Mafia hits 'new low': Reputed Gambino mobsters charged with running Craigslist teen prostitution ring
BY Alison Gendar and Rich Schapiro DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITERS April 20th 2010 The Mafia is alive and kicking - and pimping out teenage girls for sex on Craigslist. Authorities on Tuesday charged seven reputed members of the Gambino crime family with running an interstate sex-trafficking ring - calling it a "new low" for the mob. Another seven wiseguys - including the family's current boss, Daniel Marino - were also busted for a litany of crimes, some dating back to the era when John Gotti was in charge. Authorities said the prostitution service was a first for an organized crime crew. "No crime seems too depraved to be exploited if it was a money-maker, including the sexual exploitation of a 15-year-old," said FBI Special Agent-in-Charge George Venizelos. https://www.nydailynews.com/news/ny_crime/2010/04/20/2010-04-20_mafia_hits_new_low_reputed_gambino_mobsters_charged_with_running_craigslist_teen.html

Chile priest charged with abusing daughter, others AP By FEDERICO QUILODRAN, Apr 14, 2010
SANTIAGO, Chile – A Chilean priest has been charged with eight cases of sexually abusing minors, including his own daughter, and his diocese says he was suspended from his duties in the Roman Catholic Church early this year. Ricardo Munoz Quinteros, 55, is accused of paying young girls for sex. State television broadcast video Tuesday night that it said shows the priest entering a motel with a young girl he paid for her services. Prosecutors in Curacavi, on the outskirts of Santiago, formally charged Munoz on Tuesday with crimes dating back five years, expanding the initial sex abuse charges for which he was jailed in January. Prosecutor Cristian Caceres said investigators are looking at whether the diocese tried to cover up for Munoz's activities, noting a series of transfers of the priest among four parishes in a few years, according to Radio Bio-Bio. According to the charges, the priest abused girls between 16 and 18 years old, as well as his own daughter who was 5 years old at the time.

Movie: All God’s Children - Through the eyes of three families, All God’s Children tells the personal story of the first boarding school for children of missionaries to be investigated for abuse at the hands of the parents’ missionary colleagues. The survivors and parents share their journey of seeking justice, redemption and healing. The Beardslee, Shellrude and Darr families left North America for West Africa during the 1950s. They followed what they believed to be “God’s Calling” – to spread Christianity throughout the world. Their children however - starting at the age of 6 – were required to attend the boarding school in Mamou, Guinea, run by the Christian and Missionary Alliance. Cut off from their families for 9 months out of the year and without any reliable means of communication, the children quietly suffered emotional, spiritual, physical and/or sexual abuse at the hands of the all-missionary staff. It took the children decades to acknowledge the effects the abuses had on their lives. When they finally dared to break the silence and speak out, the Church denied all allegations and refused to help. But through years of persistent activism the survivors and their parents finally compelled the Christian and Missionary Alliance to conduct an investigation and acknowledge the abuses. The healing could begin.
