Leigh Corfman says she was 14 years old when an older man approached her outside a courtroom in Etowah County, Ala. She was sitting on a wooden bench with her mother, they both recall, when the man introduced himself as Roy Moore.

It was early 1979 and Moore — now the Republican nominee in Alabama for a U.S. Senate seat — was a 32-year-old assistant district attorney. He struck up a conversation, Corfman and her mother say, and offered to watch the girl while her mother went inside for a child custody hearing.

“He said, ‘Oh, you don’t want her to go in there and hear all that. I’ll stay out here with her,’ ” says Corfman’s mother, Nancy Wells, 71. “I thought, how nice for him to want to take care of my little girl.”

Alone with Corfman, Moore chatted with her and asked for her phone number, she says. Days later, she says, he picked her up around the corner from her house in Gadsden, drove her about 30 minutes to his home in the woods, told her how pretty she was and kissed her. On a second visit, she says, he took off her shirt and pants and removed his clothes. He touched her over her bra and underpants, she says, and guided her hand to touch him over his underwear.

“I wanted it over with — I wanted out,” she remembers thinking. “Please just get this over with. Whatever this is, just get it over.” Corfman says she asked Moore to take her home, and he did.

Two of Corfman’s childhood friends say she told them at the time that she was seeing an older man, and one says Corfman identified the man as Moore. Wells says her daughter told her about the encounter more than a decade later, as Moore was becoming more prominent as a local judge.

Aside from Corfman, three other women interviewed by The Washington Post in recent weeks say Moore pursued them when they were between the ages of 16 and 18 and he was in his early 30s, episodes they say they found flattering at the time, but troubling as they got older. None of the three women say that Moore forced them into any sort of relationship or sexual contact....

In a written statement, Moore denied the allegations....

Neither Corfman nor any of the other women sought out The Post. While reporting a story in Alabama about supporters of Moore’s Senate campaign, a Post reporter heard that Moore allegedly had sought relationships with teenage girls. Over the ensuing three weeks, two Post reporters contacted and interviewed the four women. All were initially reluctant to speak publicly but chose to do so after multiple interviews, saying they thought it was important for people to know about their interactions with Moore. The women say they don’t know one another....

By his account, chronicled in his book “So Help Me God,” Moore spent his time as a prosecutor convicting “murderers, rapists, thieves and drug pushers.” He writes that it was “around this time that I fashioned a plaque of The Ten Commandments on two redwood tablets.”....

The legal age of consent in Alabama, then and now, is 16. Under Alabama law in 1979, and today, a person who is at least 19 years old who has sexual contact with someone older than 12 and younger than 15 has committed sexual abuse in the second degree. Sexual contact is defined as touching of sexual or intimate parts. The crime is a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail.

The law then and now also includes a section on enticing a child younger than 16 to enter a home with the purpose of proposing sexual intercourse or fondling of sexual and genital parts. That is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

In Alabama, the statute of limitations for bringing felony charges involving sexual abuse of a minor in 1979 would have run out three years later, and the time frame for filing a civil complaint would have ended when the alleged victim turned 21, according to Child USA, a nonprofit research and advocacy group at the University of Pennsylvania....

Corey Feldman reports child abuse claims to police

Eighties child star Corey Feldman has filed a report with police after vowing to expose an alleged paedophile ring in Hollywood.

Los Angeles Police Department confirmed they are launching an investigation after receiving the actor's report.

LAPD did not confirm the nature of the allegations. Feldman's spokeswoman did not respond to a request for comment.

Feldman, now 46, has long alleged Hollywood figures molested young actors including himself and Corey Haim.

He appeared last week on The Dr Oz Show, announcing a $10m (£7.6m) fundraising campaign for a film he wants to produce about the alleged abuse scandal.

"Right off the bat, I can name six names, one of them who is still very powerful today," Feldman said....

Kevin Spacey: New allegations emerge

The claims, spanning from the mid-1980s to 2016, raise further questions about the US actor's conduct in the decades he worked in Hollywood and as artistic director at London's Old Vic theatre....

Former television news anchor Heather Unruh told a press conference in Boston that her son had been sexually assaulted by Mr Spacey, at the age of 18 in a bar in Nantucket, Massachusetts, in July 2016.

She said Mr Spacey had bought her son alcohol - the drinking age in Massachusetts is 21. After getting him drunk, Mr Spacey had "stuck his hand inside my son's pants and grabbed his genitals", she said.

She said Mr Spacey had invited her son to a party, but he had run away from the bar when Mr Spacey had gone to the lavatory.

A criminal investigation was now under way, Mrs Unruh said....

Since the first allegation of sexual advances were made by actor Anthony Rapp on 30 October, US network Netflix axed further production of Mr Spacey's House of Cards drama, the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced it will no longer give the actor a special Emmy award, and his agent and publicist dropped him as a client.

In response to Mr Rapp's claims, Mr Spacey said he has no memory of the incident and offered an apology....

Since then more men have come forward.

Barman Kris Nixon, from Belfast, Northern Ireland, said he had been working near the Old Vic in 2007 when Mr Spacey groped him at a party.

"Kevin Spacey sat down next to me on a sofa, then reached over and grabbed my penis," he said.

The actor had then suggested he perform a sexual act on Mr Nixon, according to the barman, who then left the party....

LA VERNIA, Texas - The parents of a La Vernia rape victim filed a federal lawsuit seeking monetary damages after 10 students were arrested in connection with widespread hazing accusations at the high school, according to the family's attorney.

The complaint was filed in the Western District of Texas Thursday "seeking injunctive relief and monetary damages arising from their son’s sodomization as part of a team 'initiation' ritual, allegedly known about by administrators and coaches in the La Vernia Independent School District."

The lawsuit seeks damages for civil rights violations.

Specific allegations included in the lawsuit are as follows:

"The subject hazing rituals and traditions are a form of bullying and have been part of the culture of the School’s football team for at least a decade, according to news accounts, and possibly longer.

The teams’ coaches have sanctioned these rituals, while other school officials, including La Vernia ISD and the School’s principal, athletic director, and coaches, turned a blind eye toward the abuse, even after the abuse was reported to them.

Indeed, the Plaintiffs are but a fraction of the students who have been physically and sexually assaulted pursuant to these sadistic hazing rituals which include rape, sodomy, unlawful sexual penetration, and sexual abuse. In addition to seeking damages to compensate Plaintiffs for their psychological injuries, CHILD DOE, who still attends the School, also seek injunctive relief that will put an end to the hazing rituals, so that neither they nor future members of the School’s football team will be subjected to the same abuses Plaintiffs have suffered."....

Another La Vernia varsity football player arrested Wednesday

LA VERNIA - On Wednesday afternoon, another La Vernia High School athlete was put in handcuffs, charged with a felony offense of sexual assault.

That makes 10 arrests so far: three adults and seven teens involved in a horrific hazing scandal.

Two court documents obtained by KENS 5 detail why two varsity football players were arrested on campus Monday, then another on Wednesday.

When the news broke, it shocked the entire La Vernia community. As residents told us, this scandal is not one to forget, but they're hoping everyone will at least forgive.

Dustin Norman, Robert Olivarez Jr., and Alejandro Ibarra are three La Vernia High School varsity football players facing adult sexual assault charges.

Criminal complaints reveal the assault happened in November of 2016 in a home off campus. The documents say that it was part of an initiation process after the 16-year-old victim moved from JV to the varsity football team.

The victim claims Norman, Olivarez, Ibarra and an underage suspect yelled "get him," held him down on a bed, and used the threaded end of a CO2 air tank to sexually assault him.

Norman, Olivarez, and Ibarra are just three of 10 arrests so far. The others are minors.....

The former Radio 1 DJ Chris Denning has pleaded guilty to a string of sex offences against young boys.

The 73-year-old admitted 29 charges involving boys as young as nine when he appeared at Southwark crown court in London on Tuesday. He denied a further 12 charges and will face trial on 24 November.

The offences he admitted were committed between 1967 and 1984 and involved boys aged from nine to 16.

Denning, of Basildon, Essex, was one of the original Radio 1 lineup when the BBC station was launched in 1967. He was also the first announcer heard on BBC2 when the television channel took to the air in 1964.

He was first arrested by detectives from the sex crime inquiry Operation Yewtree in June last year....

Teen accused in 'satanic' murder of girl to stand trial as adult

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- At age 16, Victor Manuel Alas is technically a juvenile. Today, before a judge, he was deemed old enough to stand trial as an adult for capital murder.

Alas and an alleged 17-year-old accomplice are accused in an especially horrific killing six months ago in clear lake. A 15-year-old girl named Corriann Cervantes was found dead inside a vacant apartment on El Camino Real.

Investigators said at the time that the victim had been stabbed with a screwdriver, beaten and sexually assaulted. Her killers are also accused of carving an upside down crucifix on her body.

Jose E Reyes, 17, was arrested shortly after the February murder. Alas was taken into custody shortly after that....

As for the motivation behind Cervantes' murder, prosecutors read from a police report that said Alas told detectives, "He did it so he could sell his soul to the devil."....

The first hint of polygamist sect leader Warren Jeffs' defense strategy came Monday when his attorney said his right to freedom of religion was trampled by Texas prosecutors, who claim he sexually assaulted two underage girls after manipulating them into "spiritual marriages."

Jury selection began Monday in the case of the 55-year-old ecclesiastical head of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, an offshoot of mainstream Mormonism that believes polygamy brings exaltation in heaven. The church's 10,000 members see Jeffs as a prophet who speaks for God on Earth....

Jeffs is accused of sexual assaulting two girls, one younger than 17 and one younger than 14. The charges against him include aggravated sexual assault of a child, which is punishable by up to 99 years to life in prison.

He faces a separate trial for bigamy in October.

The charges stem from an April 2008 police raid on a church compound known as Yearning For Zion outside the town of Eldorado, about 45 miles south of the West Texas oil and gas town of San Angelo. Authorities who believed girls were being forced into polygamous marriages removed more than 400 children living at the compound, and TV images of women wearing frontier-style dresses and 19th century hairdos were shown across the country.

The original call to a Texas domestic abuse hotline that sparked the raid turned out to be a hoax. Most of the children seized from the compound have since been returned to their families, but the evidence collected proved enough to charge Jeffs and 11 other church men with crimes including sexual assault and bigamy.

Seven church members have been convicted and received prison sentences of between 6 and 75 years.
