The Fallen Feather- Indian Industrial Residential Schools - Canadian Confederation - Documentary 2007 - Between 1879 and 1986, upwards of 100,000 children in Canada were forcibly removed and placed into Indian Industrial Residential Schools. Their unique culture was stripped away to be replaced with a foreign European identity. Their family ties were cut, parents were forbidden to visit their children, and the children were prevented from returning home....Tens of thousands of cases of sexual and physical abuses. The Government has assumed partial responsibility for this historical wrong and has agreed to pay out Billions in damages. They agree that the assimilation of First Nations children within these Industrial Schools was a terrible mistake.

Editorial: Cornelia B. Wilbur, M.D. Richard P. Kluft, M.D - Dissociation Nl. V, No. 2, June 1992 - ...While in Nebraska she had begun the treatment of a young teacher who hoped to take graduate training at Columbia. When this young woman, known as "Sybil," relocated and resumed her treatment, Connie rapidly discovered the presence of multiple personalities. Connie's efforts to present and publish her findings, and the rebuffs that she encountered and endured, are an embarrassing commentary on the mental health professions' capacity to dissociate dissociative disorders. Suffice it to say, after years of rejection of her efforts to communicate what she had learned, she began to discuss a lay publication with a journalist whose integrity and honesty she had admired, Flora Rheta Schreiber. This project became a reality only after " Sybil ' s " integration. Eleven years after the publication of Sybil (1973), Connie's first psychiatric paper on MPD, "Treatment of Multiple Personality" was published in Psychiatric Annals. Others followed, but the majority of her writings and presentations remain unpublished and unavailable.

Child pornography: images of the abuse of children By Susan J. Creighton (November 2003)....An earlier police operation in 1998, Operation Cathedral, against a paedophile ring known as the Wonderland (after Alice in Wonderland) Club had seized 750,000 child pornography images. Over 1200 different children were identified among these images, only 18 of whom had been discovered, three in the U.K. (Downey, 2002). It should be stressed that these are the cases that come to light and have been recorded and not the true incidence. The COPINE project at the University of Cork has been conducting research on the volume and characteristics of child pornography on the Internet. During a six-week period in 2002 they came across 140,000 child abuse images, of which 35,000 were completely new. Twenty previously unseen children were identified among these 35,000 images (Taylor 2004)....The use of child pornography for barter and straight commercial dealing has increased with the advent of the Internet. Taylor and Quayle (2003) have documented how the desire for new pictures can lead some consumers to abuse their own, or neighbouring children, in order to supply fresh images for barter or sale. The commercial sale of child pornography on the Internet has been increasing. The recent Operation Ore in the U.K. grew out of Operation Avalanche in the US. This operation acquired the credit card details of Internet subscribers to child pornography websites run by a Texan company, Landslide Productions run by Tomas and Janice Reedy. At the time of their arrest in 1999 they were making $1.4 million a month from Internet subscribers to Landslide. With this demand for child pornography commercial suppliers are bound to exploit the market.
