A UK academic has uncovered a file which he claims could contain allegations of “unnatural” sexual activities against public figures at the height of the Westminster child abuse scandal.
Dr Chris Murphy, a security and intelligence lecturer at the University of Salford, found the classified document while searching the National Archives in Kew.
While its contents have not been made public, Dr Murphy said he was immediately alerted by the title showing it had been taken to the then-Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher.
The title read: “PREM19/588 – SECURITY. Allegations against former public [word missing] of unnatural sexual proclivities; security aspects 1980 Oct 27 - 1981 Mar 20.”
According to Sky News, the Cabinet Office has been made aware of the file and it will be made available to the ongoing panel inquiry into the alleged existence of a paedophile ring involving senior Westminster figures....

A secret file on “unnatural” sexual behaviour was not handed over to a Government backed review that looked for official documents linked to child abuse.
The file prepared for then Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the 1980s was found recently at the National Archives in Kew and is entitled: "PREM19/588 - SECURITY. Allegations against former public [word missing] of unnatural sexual proclivities; security aspects 1980 Oct 27 - 1981 Mar 20".
The Cabinet Office still holds the file. Thirty-five years after it was prepared it remains closed on grounds of national security....
It is highly likely Margaret Thatcher saw the documents, and was briefed on the security implications, but the identities of those within them remain secret.
Dr Murphy added: "The fact that this file is concerning the Prime Minister and these allegations are being taken to the Prime Minister I think would strike anybody of being potentially of some interest."....
Mrs Thatcher's former press secretary, Sir Bernard Ingham, told Sky News he could not recall the file.
He did, though, confirm that both he and Mrs Thatcher were aware of allegations against a Government minister in the early 1980s.
Sir Bernard would not name the individual, but said: "I asked him about it and he denied it, so no, I didn't do anything else. What was the alternative?"....
Officials at the Cabinet Office have previously attempted to block requests for information relating to Cyril Smith, the late Liberal politician who is now known to have abused youngsters....

The NSW government is considering lifting the time limit in which survivors of child sexual abuse can sue for damages.
The NSW attorney general Brad Hazzard said the royal commission into institutional responses to child sexual abuse had uncovered widespread claims about abuse and the legal barriers survivors face in pursuing justice many years after the crime.
“It is well documented that many survivors of child sexual abuse do not disclose their experiences or act on them until decades after the abuse, well after the time period has ended,” Hazzard said on Friday.
The government has released a discussion paper on whether to amend the Limitation Act 1969 and wants to hear from the public.
Under the NSW Statute of Limitations people abused as children generally have between three and 12 years from the time of the offence to launch a civil claim.
“People who have suffered at the hands of others sometimes take 20, 30 years just to build up the courage to be able to say anything ... it’s a bit strange that there’s a limitation in the law that says you can’t bring proceedings,” Hazzard told ABC radio on Friday....

(CNN)In his first public remarks since being accused of having sex with an underage American woman, Britain Prince Andrews briefly addressed the allegation before a crowd in Davos, Switzerland.
"Firstly, I think I must, want, for the record to refer to the events that have taken place in the last three weeks. And I just wish to reiterate and to reaffirm the statements which have already been made on my behalf by Buckingham Palace," he said Thursday at the World Economic Forum.
Earlier this month, Buckingham Palace issued a statement which said, "It is emphatically denied that the Duke of York [Andrew] had any form of sexual contact or relationship" with the woman. "Any claim to the contrary is false and without foundation."
Andrew is a son of Queen Elizabeth II and a brother of Prince Charles, the next in line for the British throne....
The woman, identified by Buckingham Palace as Virginia Roberts, first named the prince in a civil motion filed December 30 in the U.S. District Court in southern Florida in which she claims she was forced to have sex with several men. She is referred to as Jane Doe No. 3 in the legal filings.
In the letter the woman's lawyers sent to Buckingham Palace, attorneys Paul Cassell and Bradley Edwards asked to interview Prince Andrew "under oath regarding interactions that you had with Jane Doe No. 3 beginning in approximately early 2001. Jane Doe No. 3 was then 17 years old."
The letter includes a picture of the woman and Andrew which was taken around that time, they say. The lawyers also want to discuss subsequent interactions with their client in New York City later that year, the letter says....

The woman at the center of an alleged sex scandal enveloping influential men on two continents today filed a sworn affidavit in federal court adding fresh detail to her claims and vowing “to pursue all reasonable and legitimate means to have criminal charges brought against these powerful people for the crimes they have committed against me and other girls.”
Virginia Roberts, now 31, alleges she was kept for four years as an underage sex slave of American billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who in turn required her to have sexual relations with Britain’s Prince Andrew, renowned lawyer Alan Dershowitz and “many other powerful men, including politicians and powerful business executives.”
She declined to name others in her statement - but her lawyers noted in a cryptic footnote that, if she had, the names would “have created significantly more media attention than the names that she did include.”....
Epstein pleaded guilty to one count of solicitation of prostitution and one count of solicitation of a minor to engage in prostitution. He served 13 months of an 18 month sentence in Florida prison. He was facing a potential 10 years to life sentence if he was prosecuted and convicted on the federal charges. Roberts and other women are trying to undo that agreement, claiming it was illegal because it violated their rights as victims of federal crimes....

Melbourne couple plead guilty to abusing a Dutch tourist over six weeks.
A Dutch backpacker who was held hostage in a Melbourne hotel room for six weeks, while her captors repeatedly raped and bashed her, tells a court she is tormented and physically scarred from the ordeal.
The female backpacker was tortured and forced to endure psychological manipulation “of the highest order” at the hands of a Melbourne man who claimed to be possessed, a judge says.
Alfio Anthony Granata, 48, has pleaded guilty to repeatedly raping and assaulting the woman with weapons in his Preston hotel room during a six-week ordeal.
His former partner, Jennifer Mary Peaston, also pleaded guilty in the Victorian County Court on Wednesday to intentionally causing injury to the woman.
The 23-year-old tourist was too scared to leave the couple’s hotel room, and was stabbed, raped, beaten and forced to sleep in the shower.
The court heard Granata variously believed he was possessed by the devil and an ancestor named Toto, and once collected the woman’s nails, hair and blood in an envelope to perform a supposed ritual to destroy her soul....
Judge Frank Gucciardo said the footage depicted the two women facing a “psychological onslaught” at the hands of Granata.
“What’s displayed is psychological torture and manipulation of the highest order,” he said....

Supposed Satanists are performing the rituals on Tuesdays and Fridays at a four-meter (13-foot) rock that serves as an altar near a place where animals are sold for sacrifices, the newspaper said.
Rabbits, chickens, dogs and black cats have been sacrificed, with the rituals usually taking place in February and August, said Susana del Carpio, director of the animal rights group Animales SOS....
Police destroyed an altar at the site bearing the inscription “Tio Lucifer” (Uncle Lucifer) three years ago following the discovery of a human body nearby.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — The NCAA agreed Friday to restore 112 football wins it had stripped from Penn State — all but one of which belonged to Joe Paterno — in the Jerry Sandusky child-molestation scandal and to reinstate the venerated late coach as the winningest in major college football history.
The agreement, swiftly approved by the boards of the NCAA and the university after intermittent talks heated up this week, lifts the last of the sanctions imposed in 2012 and wipes away the black marks that had tainted one of the nation's most celebrated college athletics programs.
After more than two years of criticism that the NCAA had overstepped its authority, officials with college sports' governing body did not back down. Instead, they said they were focused on ending litigation that had held up distribution of the university's $60 million fine to fund child abuse-prevention programs.
Before the deal, the NCAA had agreed last year to eliminate some of the sanctions, including reinstating Penn State's full complement of scholarships and letting the team participate in post-season play.
Friday's agreement threw out the rest of the sanctions, including eliminating a five-year probation period and scholarship and transfer rules, and restoring the wins that had been wiped out. It also bowed to Pennsylvania officials' desire to see the $60 million fine spent in Pennsylvania, not spread to abuse-prevention programs around the nation....
Freeh's report accused Paterno and other top Penn State officials of burying child sex-abuse allegations against Sandusky to avoid bad publicity. The report portrayed the Hall of Fame coach as more deeply involved in the scandal than previously thought.
The alleged cover-up by Paterno, then-university President Graham Spanier and two other Penn State administrators allowed Sandusky to prey on other boys for years, it said.
Paterno was never charged with a crime, although Spanier and the two other former administrators continue to fight charges in court....
Sandusky was convicted of 45 counts and is now serving a 30- to 60-year prison sentence.

Coffee Circuit Judge Craig Johnson sentenced 37-year-old Gregory Scott Hale of Summitville on Thursday.
The Tullahoma News said Hale pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the June 8 death of 36-year-old Lisa Marie Hyder.
....Satanic worshiper: Hale's Facebook was filled with images of him praising satanic worship and he was once fired from a meat processing plant after the boss caught Hale stealing eyeballs
....The 37-year-old was known among his neighbors and acquaintances as a devil worshiper.
He was reportedly fired from a meat processing plant after the owner caught him performing a satanic ritual.
The proprietor of the slaughterhouse recalled that Hale would often take animal bones and eyeballs home with him.
His Facebook page is filled with disturbing, sexually explicit and grisly images, as well as references to cannibalism and Scandinavian mythology.

Prince Andrew’s alleged bid to help paedophile pal Jeffrey Epstein get a reduced jail sentence could be revealed in court for the first time.

Epstein was jailed in 2008 for 18 months for soliciting a minor for prostitution. He could have been jailed for up to 20 years but cut a plea deal with prosecutors that gave him a much shorter term.
But two alleged victims, named as Jane Doe #1 and Jane Doe #2 in court papers, have launched a lawsuit in Florida arguing they should have been made aware of the deal, which granted the pervert a protective order preventing any details of the arrangement being made public....

Campaigners against child abuse have asked Scotland Yard to investigate claims a 17-year-old 'sex slave' was trafficked to London to romp with Prince Andrew.
Peter Saunders of the National Association for People Abused in Childhood has passed the allegations by US masseuse Virginia Roberts to ex-Operation Yewtree head Commander Peter Spindler.
Mr Saunders said: “If crimes have been committed here, they should be investigated.”
Court documents filed in Florida last month claim Andrew’s close friend, convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, arranged for Virginia to have sex with the prince after she was “internationally trafficked” into the UK.
If police decide to investigate, it could lead to Andrew being quizzed as a witness....
Buckingham Palace emphatically denies Andrew, 54, had any sexual contact with Miss Roberts, now 30.
She claims she also had sex with the prince at Epstein’s mansion in New York and on his private Caribbean island, where the age of consent is 18.

A woman who repeatedly warned police about the paedophile activities of the disgraced rock star Ian Watkins, but was herself prosecuted after trying to entrap him, claimed children could have been saved from abuse if she had been believed.
Joanne Mjadzelics, 39, was cleared by a jury on Wednesday of sharing explicit and shocking images of children with the former Lostprophets singer after explaining that she had played along with Watkins to prove that he was a dangerous serial abuser.
During her trial at Cardiff crown court she said she first went to police four years before Watkins was finally arrested for a string of offences against children and attempting to rape a baby but was not believed and instead found herself the victim of what she called a “vicious” prosecution....
The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is examining how South Wales police and two other forces investigated Watkins, who is serving 35 years for his crimes, amid concerns that he might have got away with his offending for years because he was famous, rich and powerful....

Roberts made headlines earlier this month when it was revealed she was the “Jane Doe No. 3” who was fighting to have Epstein’s 2007 nonprosecution agreement with the feds tossed out. “Doe” identified the prince as one of the powerful men Epstein had forced her to have sex with in papers filed in federal court in Florida late last month.
In a statement, “Doe’s” lawyers, Brad Edwards and Paul Cassell, said they were aware their client, whom they have not publicly identified, kept a journal.
“The excerpts that have been publicly referenced were apparently shared with a journalist that interviewed Jane Doe #3 in 2011, at some time prior to our knowing or representing her,” the statement said, and “clearly rebut any contention that those allegations are the product of a recent fabrication.”
Maxwell and Buckingham Palace have strongly denied the sordid allegations, while a lawyer for convicted sex offender Epstein told Radar the charges were “stale” and “rehashed.”....
