Evidence of Satanism in case where charges were dropped against men wrongfully convicted in 1992 killing
"The examiner also saw that Warford had an inverted cross tattooed below her left clavicle."
"The sheriff found various occult-related items and documents at Hardin's residence, and knives at the residences of both."
"During the trial, several witnesses testified about Clark's and Hardin's satanic worship. Amy Padgett, an ex-girlfriend of Clark, said that Clark was once involved with satanic worship, that he owned numerous knives and guns, and that he had an inverted cross tattooed on his shoulder. She stated that Clark (1) told her that he would like to try killing a person because it would be a challenge to see if he could do it and get away with it, (2) explained how a person could be killed by a stab wound to the base of the skull, (3) took her to an area where he claimed a number of animal sacrifices had been made, and (4) was familiar with the area where Warford's body was found."
"Yet another witness, Shawn Lee Mattingly, a friend of Clark, testified that Clark almost always carried a knife with him, and that Clark called one of the knives a “sacrificial knife.” Mattingly also told the jury that Clark had admitted to him that Clark had once sacrificed an animal in front of a church, an act that was reported on the local news."
"Warford's sister, however, testified that she knew that Hardin was involved in satanic worship."
"There was testimony that Clark had specifically referred to one of his knives as a “sacrificial knife” and that, according to certain satanic teachings, worshippers could empower themselves by killing other living beings. Warford's body was found tattooed with an inverted cross and wearing red sweat pants, a color which Hardin acknowledged was “a big color in this Satanism stuff.” Although this evidence was not conclusive, it did tend to support the state's theory that Warford was killed out of a specific satanism-related motivation for performing a human sacrifice."

Charges dropped against men wrongfully convicted in 1992 "Satanic" killing
By Crimesider Staff, Crimesider Staff CBS/AP February 27, 2018 '
BRANDENBURG, Ky. -- A Kentucky judge dismissed murder charges Monday against two men for a 1990s killing that authorities at the time described as "satanic." The conviction had rested in part on the visual comparison of a single strand of hair that defense attorneys fought to have tested for 18 years.
Garr Keith Hardin and Jeffrey Dewayne Clark had their convictions in Meade County vacated in 2016 based on the DNA testing, as well as evidence of police misconduct. They were released from prison in August of that year after serving more than 20 years, but it wasn't until Feb. 8 that the state Attorney General moved to dismiss the charges against them.
Hardin and Clark were convicted in 1995 of killing 19-year-old Rhonda Sue Warford, and sentenced to life in prison....

COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY APPELLANT v. JEFFREY DEWAYNE CLARK AND GARR KEITH HARDIN APPELLEES
2016-SC-000693-TG
Decided: August 24, 2017
"For the foregoing reasons, we hereby affirm the order of the Meade Circuit Court vacating Appellees' convictions and ordering a new trial."

United States Court of Appeals,Sixth Circuit.
Jeffrey Dewayne CLARK, Petitioner-Appellant, v. Michael O'DEA, Respondent-Appellee.
No. 99-6620.
Decided: July 16, 2001
A. Factual background
On April 2, 1992, Rhonda Sue Warford was reported missing by her mother. The Louisville police learned from the mother that Warford had recently dated Garr Keith Hardin, and that Clark was an associate of Hardin. Three days later, Meade County Deputy Sheriff Greer was notified that a body, later determined to be Warford's, had been found in a field off Highway 823 in Meade County. Her body was found lying face down, clad in white canvas tennis shoes, red sweat pants, a dark blue shirt, and a multi-colored jacket.
Upon examining Warford's body, the Chief Medical Examiner for the Commonwealth of Kentucky found many stab wounds to her back, a 1-inch cut on the surface of her right hand, and a 0.4-inch cut on her right index finger. He also observed a stab wound that pierced her lung through her upper right chest and stab wounds at the base of her skull, one of which severed her brain stem. Warford's injuries were caused by a sharp, single-edged instrument, such as a knife. The examiner also saw that Warford had an inverted cross tattooed below her left clavicle...
Search warrants for both Clark's and Hardin's residences were obtained. The sheriff found various occult-related items and documents at Hardin's residence, and knives at the residences of both. Clark was subsequently interviewed by the sheriff and arrested....
During the trial, several witnesses testified about Clark's and Hardin's satanic worship. Amy Padgett, an ex-girlfriend of Clark, said that Clark was once involved with satanic worship, that he owned numerous knives and guns, and that he had an inverted cross tattooed on his shoulder. She stated that Clark (1) told her that he would like to try killing a person because it would be a challenge to see if he could do it and get away with it, (2) explained how a person could be killed by a stab wound to the base of the skull, (3) took her to an area where he claimed a number of animal sacrifices had been made, and (4) was familiar with the area where Warford's body was found.
Another witness, Hope Jaggers, testified that she was Warford's best friend for a year prior to Warford's death. Jaggers said that she heard Warford tell Hardin that Warford was pregnant, and that Hardin responded by saying that “if you are pregnant, I will kill you and that [expletive] baby.” In addition, she told the jury that she had once seen Warford cut her fingertips with a razor and rub the blood on Hardin. But when Jaggers was asked whether either Clark or Hardin was involved with satanism, she stated that she had no knowledge of such involvement.
Yet another witness, Shawn Lee Mattingly, a friend of Clark, testified that Clark almost always carried a knife with him, and that Clark called one of the knives a “sacrificial knife.” Mattingly also told the jury that Clark had admitted to him that Clark had once sacrificed an animal in front of a church, an act that was reported on the local news.
Other witnesses denied having any knowledge of Clark's involvement in satanism. Two witnesses-Warford's sister and one of his cousins-said that they had never seen Clark or Hardin involved in any satanic acts. Warford's sister, however, testified that she knew that Hardin was involved in satanic worship. When Clark's mother and stepfather testified, they denied ever seeing an inverted cross tattooed on Clark's shoulder. Clark also denied that he was involved in the occult or in satanic practices....
We agree with the Kentucky Supreme Court. There was testimony that Clark had specifically referred to one of his knives as a “sacrificial knife” and that, according to certain satanic teachings, worshippers could empower themselves by killing other living beings. Warford's body was found tattooed with an inverted cross and wearing red sweat pants, a color which Hardin acknowledged was “a big color in this Satanism stuff.” Although this evidence was not conclusive, it did tend to support the state's theory that Warford was killed out of a specific satanism-related motivation for performing a human sacrifice....

Annual report shows continued toll of clergy sex abuse crisis, Jeffrey Franklin’s dark writings foreshadowed his deadly attack on his family
Annual report shows continued toll of clergy sex abuse crisis
By Matt Rocheleau Globe Staff May 20, 2016
The Catholic church paid $153 million in the United States last year to settle lawsuits, and fielded hundreds of new accusations, as fallout continued from the clergy sex abuse scandal exposed in the early 2000s, a new report from church leaders says.
The annual report from the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, which covers July 2014 to June 2015, said 384 victims came forward with allegations the church deemed credible.
The figure, while somewhat higher than the 330 allegations deemed credible in the prior year, generally fit into a trend in which the number of such allegations has declined in recent years....
Between 1950 and June 2015, more than 17,600 people made clergy abuse allegations that US Catholic officials have deemed credible....
More than 6,500 clerics were accused of abuse nationwide between 1950 and June 2015, church data show.
Many of the cases deemed credible by the church were alleged to have occurred from the 1960s to the 1980s. Clergy preyed upon boys in the vast majority of reported cases. The alleged abuse most often began when victims were between 10 and 14.
Between 1950 and the end of June 2015, about $3.5 billion was spent on settlement-related costs by US church officials, according to the church....

Jeffrey Franklin’s dark writings foreshadowed his deadly attack on his family
May 25, 2016, by Brian Lawson
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Even 18 years after high school student Jeffrey Franklin murdered his parents and attacked three of his siblings with a hatchet, his writings – collected by investigators after his arrest – still have the power to shock.
Madison County District Attorney Rob Broussard – then an assistant DA – prosecuted Franklin. It was a death penalty case, but it never went to trial, as Franklin entered a guilty plea on the eve of the trial. The murders took place at the family’s home on Camelot Drive in south Huntsville on March 10, 1998.
“If we didn’t have this material in front of us, I think we’d just have to speculate,” Broussard said. “But really when you absorb this material, you’re left with the feeling that there is evil present, and he is evil....
The Franklin case has drawn renewed attention because he is eligible for parole beginning in June.
Franklin, who was 17 at the time of the murders, pleaded guilty to two counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder. He received five life sentences.
No hearing date has been set, according to state records, but under Alabama law a person serving a life term is parole eligible after serving 15 years in prison....
Broussard described the writings as “the contents” of Franklin’s head in the run-up to the murders that took place at a home on Camelot Drive.
“In this material, there’s meticulous planning, about how he’s going to kill his parents, even, even tactically,” Broussard said, “‘I know Dad will be home at this time and I’m going to be, I’ll wait by the front door, behind the little hutch, and I’ll hit him with a hammer. Mom will be out on a walk, when she comes back I’ll have the radio playing loudly, I’ll call Mom in the room and ask her what’s on the agenda for today, then I’ll kill her, and what about the brothers and sisters. Well, I’ll take them, I’ll strangle my little brother in this room and I’ll lure my other little brother into this room and strangle him. Then my sister I will rape her then I will finish her off.’
“And, it’s pretty chilling. All the way down to, ‘Even if they do catch me, I will plead insanity, and fool those stupid judges and prosecutors.’”
The writings are also marked by an apparent fascination with the occult.
“Devil worship-based,” Broussard said. “Very violent. Overtones of a sexual nature throughout the material. There are religious themes, sort of anti-God, kind of theme that runs through it.
“I mean, the predominance, the predominant theme here, really is, that of Satanic worship, as you read through this material. And, very violent.”...
Along with drug abuse, Franklin’s writings point to a darker side. McCutcheon described as Satanism.
“He just felt like that he was doing what Satan, who at that particular time, based on his writings, was his god,” McCutcheon said. “He was doing what Satan wanted him to do.”
But Tuten said he doesn’t believe the writings prove that.
“I did not think he was actually devil-worshipping,” Tuten said. “His family was very staunch Catholics, and I think he was doing that out of rebellion, in an effort to make his parents mad. And I don’t there was anything else to it, other than that.”
Broussard said the writings contain a Satanic and anti-God themes, along with descriptions and drawings of sexual violence....

Survivorship Webinar: Energy Psychology and Muscle Testing - Saturday, November 16, 2013
Saturday, November 16,
2013
12:00 noon Pacific Time
Presenter: Christine DesJardins
“Energy Psychology and Muscle Testing, Ensuring You Are in Balance to Do the Work.”
A survivor of satanic worship and ritual abuse in the Catholic Church, Chris has spent so much time in therapy that 5 years ago she decided to launch a late life career as a therapist with the intention of finding methods that work for extreme abuse. She spent 30 years as part of a Buddhist community and has a love of meditation that has been helpful in her counseling practice. In her search for a method that works for extreme abuse she has turned to Energy Psychology which recognizes that all trauma has an energetic piece that is held in the body and which needs to be released in order to be free of the traumatic patterns. After dabbling in different methods she found Advanced Integrative Therapy (AIT) which works through the chakras. The technique has a calming almost meditative effect which allows difficult material to surface and be let go with relative ease.
Chris will be teaching Kinesiology, Muscle Testing, which is used in AIT to determine if the client is in balance, what issues need to be worked on and in what order. It is based on the idea that the body has an intelligence that can accurately give yes/no answers. She will also demonstrate how to determine if you are neurologically organized or disorganized and give some simple exercise to correct disorganization. The various energy psychology techniques work best if you are neurologically organized.
Everyone gets disorganized at times but Survivors are particularly prone to this and it can lead to frustration if you don’t know about balancing.
Chris will explain more about AIT which really needs to be done with a therapist and demonstrate EFT, the Tapping Solution, which has lots of freely available material on the Internet. Also, if you can, work with a partner. If you can’t find a partner Chris will demonstrate ways to muscle test yourself.
Chris lives in Covington, Louisiana and works in Mandeville and New Orleans at Northshore and Southshore Counseling and Wellness. She is a graduate of the University of New Orleans in Counselor Education and is presently working on licensure.

Brooklyn Prosecutor's Role in Abuse Case Is Examined By RAY RIVERA June 28, 2012
For years, Avrohom Mondrowitz counseled children out of his home in the Borough Park neighborhood of Brooklyn. He was host of a call-in radio show popular among ultra-Orthodox Jewish listeners, claiming to be a rabbi and psychologist. But law enforcement officials say Mr. Mondrowitz, who fled to Israel in 1984 to avoid arrest, was also something else: “a compulsive pedophile.”
The Brooklyn district attorney, Charles J. Hynes, has repeatedly said that since taking office in 1990, he has vigorously tried to extradite Mr. Mondrowitz. Mr. Hynes has said his office was instrumental in bringing about a change in a treaty between the United States and Israel in 2007 that had thwarted early extradition efforts.
But newly disclosed documents from Mr. Hynes’s office cast doubts on his accounts of his role in the case, suggesting that for many years, the office paid little attention to it.
Michael Lesher, a writer and lawyer who represents several of Mr. Mondrowitz’s accusers, obtained 103 pages of files on the case from the district attorney’s office after a protracted court battle to secure them under the state’s Freedom of Information Law.
“There isn’t a single e-mail, a single letter, a single memo, either originating from the D.A.’s office or addressed to it, that so much as mentions any attempt by the D.A. to seek a change in the extradition treaty,” Mr. Lesher said. “It’s just inconceivable that such important negotiation on such a detailed issue could have taken place and not left a trace in the documentary record.”
Mr. Hynes has long been criticized by advocacy groups representing victims of child sexual abuse, who claimed that he was too accommodating of politically influential ultra-Orthodox Jewish rabbis, many of whom teach that such crimes should be handled by rabbinical authorities.
Scrutiny of his office intensified last month after articles in The New York Times raised questions about his handling of sexual abuse cases among the ultra-Orthodox.
Mr. Hynes has defended his record, but after the articles were published, he promised to push for legislation making it mandatory for rabbis to report abuse. He also set up a task force to crack down on witness intimidation, which has stymied many sexual abuse cases in the community.
The Mondrowitz case has long been one of the most notorious child sexual abuse cases in Brooklyn.
Mr. Mondrowitz was charged with molesting five boys, but Amy Neustein, editor of the book “Tempest in the Temple: Jewish Communities and Child Sex Scandals,” which includes a history of the case, said she believed he had at least 100 victims.
Mr. Mondrowitz, now 64, has denied the charges.... http://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/29/nyregion/hyness-claims-on-extradition-of-abuse-suspect-are-challenged.html
